Emily Marie Benson Memorial Scholarship
Preference for this scholarship will be given to an incoming freshman, however other applicants meeting the following criteria are encouraged to apply. This Fund shall be used to provide a scholarship for tuition, fees, and on-campus housing to a student who meets the following criteria.
a) Must be a U.S. citizen.
b) Must be a full-time student enrolled at Northern Arizona University.
c) Has a significant medical condition and/or disability.
d) Provides a resume describing his/her personality, activities, awards, special performance and talents, and any other information that the applicant believes to be relevant.
e) Submits a one-page essay describing how he/she is able to see past the barriers of their medical condition and how it benefits and inspires them to reach their goals and overcome challenges on a daily basis.
I) Submits a one-page letter of recommendation from a teacher who knows him/her very well. The purpose of this letter is to provide information about the person, not their academic background. The letter is to be signed, dated and placed in a sealed envelope and submitted to the Scholarships Office in Gammage building or by mail to P.O. Box 4108, Flagstaff AZ,86011.
g) Submits a one-page letter from his/her current physician describing the applicant, their attitude toward their medical condition, and the specifics of that condition, along with any other information the physician deems relevant.The letter is also to be signed, dated and placed in a sealed envelope and submitted to the Scholarships Office in Gammage building or by mail to P.O. Box 4108, Flagstaff AZ,86011.
